Now, more than ever, is the perfect time to be more aware of your body and offer the care that you truly deserve. Nothing can be more rewarding than living in harmony with your mind, body, and spirit. This is exactly the goal of Ayurvedic Medicine: to promote overall health and well-being.
If you’re reading this, you may have initial knowledge of Ayurveda and want to deepen your understanding about it or you’ve heard it the first time and become so curious that you would want to learn more. Who would not? Everyone wants to experience that optimal wellness and later on be a professional who offers this kind of healing to the people they care about.
Ayurveda or Ayurvedic Medicine is the oldest form of holistic medicine that originated in India about 5,000 years ago. It was derived from the Sanskrit words ayus which stands for “longevity” or “life” and veda which means “knowledge” or “science”. There are three forces inside our bodies also known as doshas which are Vata, Kapha, and Pitta. Ayurveda believes that everyone has their own unique constitutional needs so each form of healing is designed depending on someone’s individuality.
The question that might come to mind now, is it still relevant in the present times? Why would I want to learn about these old practices when I can easily grab an over-the-counter medicine whenever pain occurs?
That’s exactly the point, why would you wait for the time when you can no longer endure the pain?
Ayurveda believes in prevention over cure.
That’s why there are daily routines or dinacharya that you could do every day to properly care for yourself and do things in accordance with the cycles of nature. These consist of daily habits that will help you maintain the balance of your doshas and promote health all through-out your body. Ayurveda also offers natural remedies and steps that help make sure you are doing the right thing in keeping yourself away from any imbalances. It is about doing things in harmony with the laws of nature. Finding the root causes of a certain ‘disease’ or ‘discomfort’ rather than curing the mere surface.
To help you in exploring more about this traditional healing practice, the Holistic Ayurveda Team designed practical courses that are simple enough for you to understand and at the same time still provides great depth and broad knowledge that will help you get to know Ayurvedic Medicine better.
